The Twisted Truth About AI: How Artificial Intelligence Is Quietly Changing Lives for the Better
What if the thing you’re most afraid of is the very thing that could help you thrive?
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is either hailed as the future or feared as the end of jobs, humanity, and all things organic. But what if we're missing the plot? While headlines scream doom, quietly, AI is empowering people—especially those without access to privilege—to live smarter, advocate louder, and survive better.
I’m Corey Wesley—author, recovery coach, caretaker, and business owner—and in this episode of The Twisted Truth, I’m not just talking tech. I’m breaking down how AI is changing the game in three very real ways: recovery support, medical advocacy, and small business growth.
1. AI as a Recovery Companion: Support for the People Therapy Leaves Behind
We’re living in a time when mental health services are scarce and addiction stigma is still strong. Functional addicts—people who manage to maintain jobs, relationships, and routines while struggling with substance use—often fall through the cracks. They don’t “look sick enough,” so they’re dismissed.
That’s where AI stepped in for me. As a certified recovery coach, I created an AI tool inside ChatGPT called Pathfinder Recovery of Support. It’s a voice-activated agent programmed with everything I’ve learned about harm reduction, motivational interviewing, and emotional care.
You can literally ask it, “How do I support a friend going through harm reduction?” and it will walk you through it with compassion and clarity. This is for the folks who can’t afford therapy, don’t have access to care, or are scared to open up. AI doesn’t judge—it just shows up, 24/7.
2. AI in Caregiving: Because Advocacy Saves Lives
My mother has COPD and bipolar disorder, and she’s in a nursing facility that’s severely understaffed—something that’s become the norm post-COVID. Navigating her medical care is like walking through a maze blindfolded.
Doctors don’t always explain things in layman’s terms. So what did I do? I took a photo of her blood work, uploaded it into ChatGPT, and asked it to break down what the numbers meant—in plain English. From there, I could ask better questions. I could advocate.
Let’s be real: Black and brown patients are often mischaracterized in medical records. Assertiveness is written off as aggression. Pain is downplayed. AI helps bridge that communication gap. It gives caregivers like me the knowledge to challenge the system—not out of defiance, but out of love.
3. AI for Entrepreneurs: Small Business, Big Power
Here’s the unsexy truth: building a website doesn’t mean anyone will see it. I spent thousands trying to make Milton-Wes Art visible. The site was beautiful, but traffic? Crickets.
Then I leaned into AI.
AI taught me about:
- Search engine optimization (SEO)
- Meta titles and long-tail keywords
- URL structure and schema markup
- Robots.txt files and crawling behavior
I started asking ChatGPT to analyze my site errors, fix SEO issues, and even help write click-worthy meta descriptions. I backed up my files and experimented safely. Slowly, my traffic grew. My bounce rates dropped. And people started discovering the art I poured my soul into.
AI didn’t just save me money. It saved my dream.
Don’t Be Scared. Be Curious.
The twisted truth is: AI is only as good as your input. If you give it trash, it spits out trash. But if you ask the right questions, use it thoughtfully, and check the information—it becomes a powerful co-pilot.
It won’t replace you. It enhances you.
Whether you're a caretaker, a recovering addict, a small business owner, or someone just trying to keep up—AI is a tool worth learning. It can help you show up better for your loved ones, your work, and yourself.
Your Next Step
- ✅ Use my recovery AI agent: Search “Pathfinder Recovery of Support” in ChatGPT
- ✅ Analyze your own medical records with ChatGPT for a second opinion (but always confirm with a doctor)
- ✅ Audit your website using AI to fix errors and boost visibility—no developer needed

AI is already shaping the future. The real question is: will you shape it with it—or be left behind?
